  I am a Senior Lecturer in the Graphic Design Department at the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. Although I have an eclectic range of research interests, my main research focus over the past few years, and the topic of my PhD thesis, has been South African design history, and, in particular, the narratives of mainstream creative practitioners whose voices have not been heard. Emerging areas of interest explored with postgraduate students include subjects as diverse as vernacular sign-making in South African townships, narratives of identity in South African on-line advertising, and the performance of community in South African Hindu religious architecture.
