...MoreLaura Lee Coles, MA (Communications, Arts and Technology) is a multi-disciplinary artist with over 30 years working in performance art, music, installation [both gallery and site-specific] photography and video. She worked as a consultant in environmental education during the 1990's.
As an artist, Laura Lee’s current interest includes using solar and portable independent power systems to present new media work in natural settings such as caves, forests and coastal environments. Her recent MA thesis, Utilizing the natural environment for the exhibition of new media (Simon Fraser University 2012) questioned whether different technologically mediated experiences in nature can subvert preconceived notions of the human-nature and nature-technology relationships. She is the creative director of the media arts collective LocoMotoArt in Vancouver, British Columbia.
