She completed her BA at Mary Baldwin College in Virginia, USA. She collected data in India for her BA thesis on the negotiation of cultural values and identity in a globalized society. Most recently, she worked as an intern for the Afghan government in Kabul for three months, where she was also doing research for her masters thesis on development in Afghanistan.
