Professor Broer is an internationally acclaimed scholar of Modern and Postmodern American and British Literature. He has published widely in critical collections and professional journals, and has authored or edited eight books, including Hemingway’s Spanish Tragedy, Sanity Plea: Schizophrenia in the Novels of Kurt Vonnegut, Rabbit Tales: Poetry and Politics in John Updike’s Rabbit Novels, and Hemingway and Women: Female Critics and the Female Voice. Broer served as a Fulbright lecturer at the University of Paris in l98l and l984, and received both the Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching at the University of South Florida and the Theodore and Venette Askounes-Ashford Distinguished Scholar Award.
