I am a fourth year Ph.D. student in the Department of Art History at the University of Illinois at Chicago. My research interests include the art and architecture of Precolumbian cultures, as well as the display and use of non-Western art objects in European and American museums. My dissertation, entitled "Art, Architecture and Ritual Life at Mayapan, the Last Great Maya City," focuses on indigenous culture in the last centuries before European invasion of the New World. I particularly enjoy looking and thinking about human history through the formal and contextual analysis of objects in both their original setting and in museums. My scholarly work remains highly interdisciplinary, oftentimes incorporating Art History with Cultural Anthropology, Archaeology, History, and Museum Studies. I have a Master’s degree in Anthropology and a Master’s degree in Art History from Northern Illinois University (NIU), as well as a certification in Museum Studies and a concentration in Latin American studies from NIU.
