My professorship at the Danish School of Education, Aarhus University in Copenhagen is affiliated with the Department of Educational Sociology. My primary task is to build up a new and highly innovative pedagogical and educational research environment dealing with students’ tasting, food knowledge and skills, well-being, and learning in primary and secondary school. Initially, it has proved possible to establish this research in both indoor and outdoor education. The new elementary school reform in Denmark (2014) declared well-being and academic proficiency as primary aims. The specific focus on well-being is new in a didactical sense. The effort to ensure food and taste education, and well-being in school must now be measurable and continuously adjusted in order to ensure students' food and taste copetencies and in order to ensure promotion of health and well-being in schools. My professorship consists of several ongoing health and taste education projects, externally funded with a total of DKK 60 million. Through my research on learning, cooking, tasting and wellbeing in school I create evidence new knowledge and theories regarding: a) taste experiences and competence as well as acquisition of taste knowledge and skills relevant to well-being, b) implementation of food knowledge and cooking experience in producing wellbeing and c) a new taste pedagogy towards taste education in a participatory and critical learning perspective. In January 2019 together with my colleage and husband professor Lars Qvortrup I have finished the book "Teaching Taste" for Common Ground Research Imprint, Food Studies.
