Ms. Silvestri is beginning her research assistantship at the University of Buffalo in August 2014 as a part of her doctoral program in Curriculum, Instruction, and the Science of Learning. This past year, she taught reading and writing courses at Niagara County Community College in Sanborn, New York. She is a recent graduate from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo State College with her Master’s degree in Literacy. At Buffalo State College, she was able to study abroad in Lusaka, Zambia in order to conduct her research, which she will be presenting at this year’s conference. Katarina also has had the opportunity to teach Kindergarten, first grade, and fifth grade after finishing her undergraduate work at SUNY Fredonia. She endeavors to add to the bodies of research in the fields of vocabulary instruction, English Learners and literacy, and educational technology.
Less
