Dr. Kahar Wahab Sarumi, a Senior Lecturer in the Islamic Studies Unit of Department of Religious Studies Faculty of Arts, National Open University of Nigeria, was born on the 30th of April 1967 in Ogbomosho North Local Government area of Oyo State, Nigeria. He graduated from the University of Ibadan in 1999 with First Class honors in Arabic and Islamic Studies and bagged Master’s degree with Distinction in the same disciplines from his Alma Mata in 2001. In 2005, he completed studies for the award of Postgraduate Diploma in Education at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria and later in 2010 earned Doctor of Philosophy in Arabic Literary Studies from the International Islamic University, Malaysia. Some of the scholarships and prizes he won include University of Ibadan Undergraduate Scholarship (1998), University of Ibadan, Faculty of Arts Prize for the Best Graduating Student (1999) and Rector Fellowship Award for PhD at International Islamic University, Malaysia (2008). His academic areas of interest include: Modern Arabic Literature; Islam and Modernism; Gender, Religion and Politics. Dr. Sarumi has attended and presented academic papers in local and international conferences. He has a number of publications to his credit in local and international refereed journals.
