Dr. Kalpana Chaudhari is an engineer by training . She has pursued the Ph.D. in Engineering and Technology. Her Ph.D. work consists of interdisciplinary subjects includes e-governance and information and communication technologies and its application for socio-economic and sustainable development at RTM Nagpur University , India . She has also obtained the Master of Technology degree from SV National Institute of Technology, Surat, India .She has also obtained the Post graduate Diploma in Urban and Housing studies from Institute of Urban and Housing studies , Erasmus University, Rotterdam ,The Netherlands.
She has 21 years academic, research and professional experience. She is working as Vice President of Institute for Sustainable Development and Research ,ISDR, India, an organization having consultative status with UN-ECOSOC, UN-Habitat, UNCTAD ,UN-Ffd, UN-WCDRR. She is also working as Lecturer at SAK Polytechnic, Mumbai. Kalpana is member of several national and international scientific and technical associations and unions. She has participated and associated with activities and programs of UN ,and other governmental , nongovernmental and intergovernmental organizations . She has received the Netherland Fellowship for participation in the International course on Urban Environmental management at IHS, Erasmus University, The Netherlands. She has also received the fellowships/funding from UNESCO , International Council of Scientific Unions–ICSU, WCRP, LOICZ, International River Foundation and other International organizations. She has organized; and also participated in several national, regional and international conferences and symposia in Asia, Africa ,Europe and America region in association with organizations including UNESCO, UNDP-GEF , UNCTAD , World Bank, UNFCCC and Universities. Kalpana’s contribution includes several research projects and papers ,recognized by national and international journals, conference and symposia on frontline and multidisciplinary issues of application of information and communication technologies and electronics governance for global environmental changes ,natural resources development and management, agriculture, aquaculture, forestry, public health, rural and urban regional development, coastal and marine ecosystems and social- economic development for sustainable development. She has participated in several programs on million development goals and sustainable development goals . She has participated in international conferences includes World Water Forum at The Hague, The Netherlands; International Workshop on “Innovation and Outlook in Fisheries” at University of British Columbia , Vancouver ,Canada; Ocean –Knowledge network at Kiel, Germany. As a part of institutional capacity building, she has organized several national and international training programs on sustainable development and ICTs , Risk resilience and Disaster management, Climate change, marine conservation, geosciences education , coastal zone management etc . in Asia- Pacific and Europe region.
