Dr. Judith Chelius Stark is a professor of philosophy at Seton Hall University in New Jersey where she is also the co-director of the Environmental Studies Program. Her scholarly work includes ethics and the environment, feminist theories, and the philosophy of Augustine of Hippo. Over twenty years ago, she helped create the Environmental Studies Program at Seton Hall where she was also one of the founding mothers of the Women and Gender Studies Program. Over the past seven years she has helped increase the number of Environmental Studies majors from just six students to now over fifty majors with areas of concentration in public policy, education, and supply chain management. She is particularly concerned with the applications of ethical theories to the challenges of global climate change and sees virtue ethics as a fruitful area of research in this regard.
