I have studied issues of human resource management (HRM) in hospitality and tourism contexts over the past 30+ years. My primary areas of interest pertain to talent management, empowerment, strategic HRM and engagement. I believe there is much more that can and should be done to improve the experience of people working in the industry, and that guest satisfaction and long-term financial success will improve as a result. I received "honourable mention" for one of my papers in the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management on talent management.
I have just completed a co-edited a book - "Handbook of Human Resource Management in the Hospitality and Tourism Sector" (in-press). The session I have proposed will draw on various chapters from this book.
