Mixed and digital media artist, designer, researcher and professor at Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain). Espinel is Doctor in Fine Arts with a specialization in digital technologies and 3d printing, giving several international conferences related to arts, education, science and technology. José Carlos teaches courses in 3D modeling in the undergraduate programs in Fine Arts, Game Design and Restauration and Conservation of the Heritage and an Enviromental Art course in the graduate program in Art, creation and research.He has been part of the Mechatronics collaborative research cohort at University of California and is currently a member of the Arts, Technology and Social Commitment Research Group at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, developing art research projects on the intersection of technology and society. His work, focused in enviromental and social concerns, is produced in different media such as 3D printed sculpture, videogames or animation. Espinel has exhibited locally and internationally and has been recognize with several awards, among them Los Angeles Cinema Film Festival of Hollywood 2010 Merit of Honor and Griffon International Film Festival 2010 in the Best Animation short film category.
