I work and publish as a medical physicist. I received bachelor's and masters degrees in physics from Western University in London, Canada. This study, however, evolves from my history as a national caliber distance runner, and a transgender individual. I have competed in distance running events for forty years; the first thirty in the men's division, and the last ten in the female category. I noted the complete lack of any performance based studies on transgender athletes, and devised my own. I noted that my race times in both genders produced virtually identical scores when the standard age grading principles were applied. I found seven other transgender women runners, and their race times followed a similar pattern.
