Judith J. Devine joined the Graduate School at Florida State University in September, 2001. Prior to accepting her current position, she served as a staff member in the Office of the Provost at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. There, she coordinated six annual state-wide conferences for advisors; edited and published an annual handbook for advisors; assisted efforts to diversity public professional schools in Tennessee; compiled the annual report detailing efforts to diversify the Univesity of Tennessee System's faculty, staff, and student body; and represented the University in a joint effort with the Tennessee Board of Regents and the Tennessee Board of Regents to review and approve high school courses for university admission. At FSU, Devine is responsible for graduate student affairs, two graduate certificate programs, two postdoctoral scholars programs; the administration and analysis of the Graduate School's graduate student surveys; and two graduate student awards programs.She has served as co-principal investigator with the Dean of the Graduate School and staff for several nationally funded projects. Devine has delivered numerous presentations for the national Council of Graduate Schools and the Council of Florida Graduate Schools. With the Dean and members of the Council of Southern Graduate Schools' Advisory Committee, Devine organized and facilitated the annual meeting in 2012. In 2018, with the FSU and FAMU Graduate School Deans and FSU staff, Devine collaborated to organize and facilitate the annual Council of Florida Graduate Schools Conference.She is also the university Ombudsman for graduate students and teaches the graduate, interdisciplinary Responsible Research and Creative Endeavors course. She serves on university-wide committees such as the Student Situation Resolution Team and Graduate Enrollment Management Committee.
