  Professor Jiro Sagara is currently the head of Department of Product and Interior Design at the School of Design, Kobe Design University. Prior to becoming an academic he had a career as the Senior Researcher of Hyogo Assistive Technology Research Institute at the Hyogo Rehabilitation Center as well as the President of Environment and Equipment for Everyone’s Everyday Life Co. Ltd. in Japan. He is currently an adviser for the Rehabilitation Engineering Society of Japan, councilor for the Japanese Society for the Science of Design, secretary general of Society for Design and Art Fusing with Science and Technology and on the board for Universal Design Network of Japan.
