Dr. Jason Davids Scott earned a BFA in Cinema Studies from New York University and an MA and PhD in Theatre from UC Santa Barbara. Before earning his graduate degrees, Dr. Scott worked in the entertainment industry as a publicist in New York and Los Angeles, and then as a feature film development executive. In addition to teaching courses in Independent Film, Sex and Violence in Cinema, and Professional and Technical Writing for the Film Industry at ASU, Dr. Scott is the chair of the Film Studies and Sexuality/Erotica studies area for the Mid-Atlantic Popular and American Culture Association, where his is also a former board member, past president, and founding editor of the online journal Response (www.responsejournal.net). He has published chapters and articles about film figures such as Wes Anderson, Robert Downey Jr., and Hal Hartley, and is currently writing a textbook on professional and technical writing for media industries (to be published early 2019).
