Janette Thomas Greenwood is Professor of History at Clark University where she specializes in 19th Century U.S. History, African American History, and Public History. She received her doctorate from the University of Virginia in 1991. Greenwood is author of several articles and books, including First Fruits of Freedom, about the migration of former slaves to New England. She is co-curator, with Nancy Burns, Associate Curator of Prints, Drawings, and Photographs, Worcester Art Museum of "Rediscovering an American Community of Color: The Photographs of William Bullard, 1897-1917," exhibited at the Worcester Art Museum, October 2017-February 2018. The exhibition features recently discovered images of Native Americans and African Americans taken at the turn of the 20th century.
