Iris Aravot is an associate professor in urban design and theory at the Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning. She is a graduate of the Technion, I.I.T. (B. Arch cum Laude, M.Sc., Ph.D. in theory of Architectural knowledge), studied philosophy at Haifa University and followed postdoctoral studies at the A. A. Graduate School, London.
Her fields of research and interest include : urban design theories, the research of new-towns in Israel and elsewhere, phenomenology as theory and as a research approach to architecture and urbanism and architectural education. In 2007 she initiated and chaired the 1st International Conference on Architecture and Phenomenology in Haifa.
Aravot is head of Graduate Studies in Architecture and Urbanism, former head of The Research Centre for Architectural R&D and former vice dean for research and graduate studies. She published numerous articles in Hebrew and English and was a visiting scholar in European and North American schools of architecture
