Iresh Jayawardena is working as a lecturer in planning over six years attached to the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. Currently he is on study leave to pursue his doctoral degree in planning from the school of Architecture and Planning at the University of Auckland, New Zealand.
Iresh is an active member of the Institute of Town Planners' Sri Lanka (ITPSL) since 2010 and elected for the council in year 2012-13. He obtained his M.Sc. degree in Real Estate Management and Valuation and B.Sc (Hones) degree in Town and Country Planning in Sri Lanka. Upon graduating from his bachelor’s degree in planning, he served to the development of the Young Planners Forum (YPF) in Sri Lanka from 2006 to 2010.
He has engaged in research works related to planning resilience cities, climate change and impact adaptation, water sensitive planning practices and the use of GIS for planning applications.
