Ikuyo Kaneko graduated from School of Engineering, Keio University in 1971 and received his Ph.D. (Operations Research) in 1975 from Stanford University. He taught applied mathematics at Computer Sciences Department, University of Wisconsin-Madison since 1975. In 1994, he joined Keio University’s Graduate School of Media and Governance as professor. His research areas include climate impacts on society, community theory, and social and technological innovations. Kaneko’s current research interests are in innovative ways to solve health problems through social as well as technological approaches. In particular, he has been involved with projects using telemedicine and automatic monitoring of vital statistics using in-house wearable sensors.
