Hilary Collins is a lecturer in design management. Hilary comes from an academic and professional background in Interior Architecture and Management and has worked for a number of years in both France and the Middle East specialising in researching and setting up undergraduate and post graduate design and management programs. Hilary researches in the area of identity and how it relates to the built environment. This includes the fields of user focus, ergonomics, accessible design and corporate social responsibility focusing on the micro processes of human interpretation of, and behaviour towards, designed artefacts. This includes examining the social construction of meaning through the interpretation of designed artefacts and how this can affect both organizational behaviour and strategic management of change. Most recently interests have included the intercultural aspect of identity across east and west and the implication this has for the field of design management.
