Dr. Heather Caswell holds a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction, is a National Board Certified Teacher in Early and Middle Childhood Literacy: Reading-Language Arts, and has an undergrad emphasis in Families Studies and Human Development. Dr. Caswell is English as a Second Language endorsed and is a NBPTS Certified Candidate Support Provider for National Board for Professional Teaching Standards candidates.A Teacher of Promise and Horizon Award recipient, Dr. Caswell has seven years of teaching experience in early childhood education as well as experience supervising preservice teachers in various pK-12 educational settings. As a National Writing Project Teacher Consultant, she has presented at the international, national, state, and district levels focusing on emerging literacy, visual literacy, family literacy, developmentally appropriate and authentic assessments, as well adult learning, and technology. Dr. Caswell has secured multiple grants, and has an extensive list of professional memberships and service to the profession, university, and community. Dr. Caswell has collaborated with Emporia State University’s Children Inspire Glass Project since 2012, coordinating the literacy and creative writing portions of the project.
