  Greg Piper has worked as a Graphic Design lecturer for the past 14 years, and was involved in the film industry, magazine design and production, and art teaching, prior to this. His creative work has focussed on bringing a graphic design approach to mixed media and sculptural pieces. He has used hardwoods, glass etching, casting resin, and screen-printing onto copper sheet and acrylic plastic, and is currently using traditional Maori weaving techniques to explore notions of celebration and commemoration. A theoretical interest lies in the tension of using cultural appropriation from another ethnic group. He is pakeha working in a Maori medium, and finds this a validating experience for his sense of identity as a New Zealander (Kiwi). Less
