Julio Estrada (México 1943). His creative work is associated to his research: finite groups theory, networks theory, interval class’ combinatory, rhythm-sound continuum, macro-timbre polyphony, topological rhythm-sound continuum, continuum-discontinuum fusion. Between his Works, the opera Murmullos del páramo, based on Juan Rulfo. Studies under Orbón, Boulanger, Messiaen, Xenakis, Ligeti and Stockhausen. Ph.D.: Strasbourg University, Music and Musicology: "Compositional Theory: Discontinuum-Continuum". He teaches a permanent seminar at Facultad de Música, Theory and Philosophy of Music Creation. At Instituto de Investigaciones Estéticas he is the head of projects La música de México, 20th Century Mexican Music Archives, Interactive Computer Systems, etcétéra. His articles have been translated into Chinese, Danish, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese or Norwegian. Visiting professor at Stanford, UCSD, New Mexico, Darmstädter Ferienkurse, Rostock’s Musikwissenschaft Institut, Scola Civica Milano, Bergen’s Griegakademiet Institutt, Sorbonne’s Alfonso Reyes Chair, Beijing Central Conservatory. Appointed Music Director of Centre d’Études de Mathématique et Automatique Musicale, Paris (2000-2001). Emeritus member of the National Scholars System. Member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences and International Musicological Society.
