Eric W. Johnson, Director of Sims Memorial Library at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana since April 2004, received his MLS and an M.A. in English from Southern Connecticut State University, and has done postgraduate work in Educational Administration at the University of Bridgeport. Prior to Southeastern he held positions at four Connecticut university libraries. He has extensive experience on state and national library boards and committees, and has written several articles and chapters for library journals and reference encyclopedias. He is a co-author of Tapping State Government Information Sources (Greenwood, 2003) and Hammond (Arcadia Publishing, 2016), and has presented at state and national conferences and international symposia. A longtime lover of the arts, he has served on the executive board of the Hammond Regional Arts Center and is currently a member of their Advisory Committee. With Dr. Irene Nero he is the co-founder of the "Let's Talk Art" lecture series held at the HRAC and Southeastern, and has spoken on fine illustrated books, the theft of the "Mona Lisa," and Gertrude and Leo Stein's art collections, as well as other art-related topics.
