Dr.Elvia R. Krajewski, is professor emerita of the School of Social Work at Eastern Michigan University. Her professional interests include practice and research in gerontology, medical social work, and civic engagement and community building with a focus on cultural competence. She has directed the School of Social Work; the Institute for the Study of Children, Families and Communities; the Center for Community Building and Civic Engagement; and the Graduate Program in the School of Social Work. She has received many state and federal grant awards, and has authored numerous articles, chapters in books, and monographs. Dr. Krajewski is Vice President for Standards and Services at the National Association of Social Workers-Michigan Chapter, is in the Executive Board of the Michigan Collaborative Continuing Education, and is Vice President and Treasurer of the Organization of Latino Social Workers-Michigan Chapter. She holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, a master’s degree in Social Administration from Temple University,and a doctoral degree in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin.
