Elizabeth Kalbfleisch, PhD., is an Assistant Professor of English at Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU), New Haven, CT. She earned her PhD. in Rhetoric at the University of Minnesota and is the director of the Writing Across the Curriculum Program and the Writing Center at SCSU. Prior to this, Dr. Kalbfleisch was director of freshman composition at SCSU. She teaches graduate and undergraduate classes in writing, rhetoric history, theory, and pedagogy, and the history of the humanities in the West. She has published scholarly articles on the relationship between reading and writing in composition studies, rhetoric history, theory, pedagogy and writing program administration in the journals Advances in the History of Rhetoric, Pedagogy, and College Composition and Communication. Additionally, she is currently at work on a book project concerning the Canon Wars and the future of liberal learning in the twenty-first century.
