  I am an artist and practice-based researcher at Lancaster University, exploring the development of a new critical language for sculpture which places artists at the centre. As an artist, I have been developing my practice for ten years, and I regularly exhibit across the UK and internationally. As a scholar, I am a specialist in sculptural critique since 1960, and I have a detailed understanding of current debates surrounding 'material' and 'materiality' in disciplines outside of art, including feminism and philosophy. I adopt a practice-based approach, which creates spaces for artists in academia and acknowledges the importance of material as a tool for communicating social and political ideas.
