  I am a small-town farm girl raised by my grandparents. I have been teaching for nearly 20 years. My career began as an English Teacher several years ago. While serving as a K-12 classroom teacher, I gained so many skills that helped me to become a Master teacher. I have led departments, served as curriculum coordinator, dean of students, and more recently worked as an educational consultant with my own business geared towards helping teachers more effectively manage their classrooms and increase parent involvement in schools. I am currently writing a book entitled, "The Culture-focused Teaching Method: Classroom Management Strategies that Work at Every Grade Level. In my years of teaching, I have had the opportunity to teach elementary, middle and high schools. In each of those areas, I was the "chair" of discipline, because students typically responded well to my support. That's what made me write this book and become an educational consultant. I believe that my work now involves helping teachers stay in the classroom, by teaching them how to build a culture-focused classroom where all students feel comfortable and supported. Moreover, this methodology of classroom culture is also beneficial for the teachers as well. The goal of my career is to provide additional information, resources, and inspiration to ensure that the culture of the cooperative classrooms exists. At other times, I am a full-time professor at Benedict College and I am also an adjunct professor at Columbia College. I am married to my wonderful husband who works in a local elementary school as an Assistant Administrator and In-School Suspension Coordinator. We have a beautiful Yorkie Poodle named Jordan. Less
