Diane Costello is a Research Associate at Curtin University and is currently employed at Curtin University within the Faculty of Humanities and undertakes research related activities. Her most recent research focus includes the following: the issues and the barriers associated with access to land by recreational users; evaluation of a pilot program of drought reform measures; the factors that inhibit and promote volunteering; a review of the socio-economic costs and benefits associated with access to green space. Diane is trained in the field of community psychology and endeavours to understand human behaviour within a community and societal context. She has gained extensive research experience in rural, regional and Indigenous community settings focussed on capturing the complexity of issues faced by people living in a variety of socio-economic and geographically challenging environments.
A previous project (CSIRO’s Energy Transformed Flagship) examined the climate change beliefs of regional SMEs (Small & Medium Enterprises) and the factors that facilitate and impede conservation behaviours. Diane is an early career researcher and has published in the area of community engagement approaches to promote regional community sustainability. Diane has been involved evaluation of health programs involving collaborative Indigenous and non-Indigenous service delivery models.
