Dr. Tahara is an Associate Professor and Division Director, Health Policy and Management at the School of Health Sciences and Practice at New York Medical College where she teaches courses in leadership and systems thinking. Before joining the college, she was an independent consultant working to improve the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery systems. While at New York Medical College, Dr. Tahara has also worked with area hospitals to develop business plans to expand their programs and the corresponding metrics to measure performance. Systems thinking and performance improvement continue to be her primary area of research. Other areas of research include improving birth outcomes and maternal health through preconception healthcare, pediatric obesity, educating the public about healthy lifestyle choices and increasing sustainability practices in the healthcare industry. Dr. Tahara received her BS from Cornell University, her MBA and Ph.D. from New York University and her CPA from New York State.
