David Sánchez-Jiménez obtained his B.A. in Spanish Philology in 2001 and his M.A. in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language in 2006 from the University of Salamanca in Spain. He completed his Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics in the Teaching of Spanish as a Foreign Language in 2014 from the Universidad Antonio de Nebrija in Madrid, Spain. He has taught Spanish language and Spanish Linguistics in various universities and academic institutions in Spain, the Philippines, Hungary and the US. In 2014 he received the Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship grant in Colgate University. His research interest include the rhetorical organization of academic discourse; interculturalism in the rhetoric and sociopragmatic texts written in the second language; cognitive process involved in writing; and the learning of Spanish orthography.
