David Leiwei Li is a native son of Shanghai and a naturalized American. After obtaining his PH. D from the University of Texas at Austin 1991, he taught and was tenured at the University of Southern California before joining the faculty of University of Oregon, where he is Professor of English and holds the Collins Chair of the Humanities. In 2012, he was the visiting exchange professor at Freiburg University in Germany. In 2013, he was appointed the Fulbright Distinguished Visiting Chair Professor at Chelsea College of Art and Design, the University of Arts, London. He has lectured widely in Europe and Asia, as well as in the U.S.A.. Besides scores of scholarly articles under his belt, Professor Li is the author and editor of seven scholarly books, the most recent of which is, Economy, Emotion, and Ethics in Contemporary Chinese Cinema: Globalization on Speed (Routledge 2016). He is also an exhibited and published photographer.
