Daniel Bowen, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Education Administration and Human Resource Development at Texas A&M University and a Research Affiliate of the Houston Education Research Consortium, a researcher-practitioner partnership between the Houston Independent School District and Rice University. He primarily employs experimental and quasi-experimental methods, often requiring original data collection, to investigate the broader impacts of culturally enriching, school-sponsored programs and policies. These efforts provide empirical results that inform and further guide research in this field as well as provide practical solutions and impacts for education administrators, policymakers, and practitioners. Dr. Bowen currently serves as the Principal Investigator of the Arts Access Initiative, a Houston Independent School District-wide policy that increases the availability of arts educational learning opportunities and resources for students from historically underserved populations. His research has been supported by the Spencer Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts, and the Houston Endowment, Inc. In addition to a long list of publications in peer reviewed journals like Educational Researcher, Sociology of Education, the Journal of Research on Educational Effectiveness, and Teachers College Record, his research has been featured in The New York Times, NBC Nightly News, CNN, The Wall Street Journal, The Atlantic, Education Week, and others.
