I am originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and self-defined as a critical urban geographer. I obtained my PhD in Geography from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2012. My main areas of research and teaching combine urban studies, Latin American Studies, and local urban polticis in both U.S. and Latin American settings. My work has examined the relationship between neoliberal governance and informal economy in Argentina, the politics of contemporary Chicago, and gentrification and race in Latino and African-American neighborhoods. I have published in Urban Studies, Urban Geography, Geoforum and Urban Affairs Review, and a variety of book chapters on the topics of neoliberalism in Chicago, urban sustainability in Buenos Aires, and middle-class identities and neoliberalism in Buenos Aires.
