Christina A. (Ida) Breed is a registered professional landscape architect. She obtained a Master’s degree in design, urban studies from the Autonomous Metropolitan University in Mexico City (2003). Her Master’s dissertation was on Mamelodi township, viewing alternative methods for design to enable contextually appropriate projects that include public involvement and appropriation of space. In 2015 she obtained her PhD in Landscape Architecture from the University of Pretoria. Her research currently focuses on designed ecologies, human well-being and sense of place. In unites concepts of ecosystem services with human values and contributes to the limited body of work that considers the role of landscape designers in social-ecological systems. Since 2008, she holds a full time position at the University of Pretoria in the Department of Architecture, where she is currently working at Senior Lecturer position. Ida has travelled broadly in the developing world and is fluent in three languages.
