...MoreThe author is a fourth generation technologist holding multiple certifications and degrees in computer science and communications and the recipient of the International Award for Excellence in the area of technology, knowledge and society. In his role as voice and data engineer, he has designed and managed the global communications network of Ovid Technologies and was responsible for an innovative solution that restored communications to their Manhattan office within three hours of the 9/11 attacks. In his role as software developer, he has emphasized designs that serve the software user, first at WordPerfect Corporation and recently with a whole college campus website redevelopment project implementing a new content management system. The spirit of adventure that drives his quest for knowledge and understanding is so strong that he has even driven his family to the Teotihuacan Pyramids of Mexico from the Western United States in order to better understand the culture that produced them and has studied at the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology in Italy. His passion is to help others understand technology and how it affects their lives and he is currently passing this torch on to a new generation of technologist while teaching computer science at Hutchinson Community College.
