Dr Candice Howarth is a Senior Research Fellow at the Global Sustainability Institute at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, UK leading the Climate Action and Cultural Systems theme. She is currently leading research on the implications of climate change discourse and perceptions on climate solutions as well as on farmer’s perceptions to climate change. She is working with the UK Cabinet Office and Department for Energy and Climate Change on research on energy behaviours as well as with the EU Commission to evaluate the impact of Information and Communications Technology in delivering the EU’s Climate and Energy 2020 targets. She is involved in projects on resource scarcity, financing of low carbon development projects as well as wider climate and sustainability communication to influence behaviour change. She worked on a national environmental education program led by Imperial College in 2011, she implemented a behaviour change framework for the UK National Union of Students’ ‘Degrees Cooler’ project, developed the British Council’s Climate Change and Cultural strategy at the Isle of Wight festival and led a sustainable messaging a project for the Highways Agency in 2010. She has a BSc Meteorology, MSc Climate Change and a PhD in sustainable communication and behavior change.
