Carmen Gill is professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of New Brunswick and led the Canadian observatory on the justice system response to intimate partner violence from 2006 to 2016. Her research focuses on police intervention in intimate partner violence, domestic homicide, treatment of perpetrators and victims through the criminal justice system. Dr. Gill is leading a research project in community police strategy for reducing intimate partner violence in New Brunswick and a project examining police response to intimate partner violence situations involving Aboriginal people. She is a member of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police Crime Prevention, Community Safety and Wellbeing Committee and a member of the Domestic Violence Death Review Committee in New Brunswick.
