As a lecturer of Journalism and Communication Studies my research interests situated within the tradition of cultural studies encompass social media, democracy and culture focusing on how new communication technologies are being used to shape identities and transform ideologies and values. I have conducted researches on topics such as political mobilization through the internet in Southern Africa, newspaper coverage of health issues such as Ebola in Southern Africa, predictors of sexual health in young people as they are influenced by social media, ideological transformations in Zimbabwe as reflected by dominant political discourses, the influence of social media on interpersonal relationships and identity formations through press framing. Apart from being a lecturer of journalism and communication studies I have worked in both print and electronic media and have a keen interest in investigating how the media have and are being used to shape identities, ideologies and culture in Africa.
