    Position held included tasks of managing patient load ranging from 3-5. -Monitoring patients on telemetry through monitors and strips completed every eight hours. -Administration of cardiac drips to assist with blood pressure, heart rate, blood thinners, and diuretic control including Corvert, Cardizem, Furosemide, and many more occurred. -Placement of IVs, Foley’s, care of post op CABG day 2 to discharge, care of thoracotomies, Carotid’s, cardioversions, EP studies, pacemaker placement, cardiac catheterization both radial and groin sites, chest tubes, NG tubes, wound care, and many more step down medical-surgical care. - Assumed position included Charge nurse assisting with placement of patient and staff members on the unit. -Position included attending staff members, facility forums, as well as completion of yearly competencies such as telemetry, medications, restraints, electrode placement, CPR, lift equipment and more. -This RN participated in the LEAN committee and initiation for the unit by participating in a week long conversion of the unit including the sustainment board to ensure long term compliance on the floor. -Gain extra education in fall safety, and lift equipment to become an equipment coach to assist staff members with correct use of equipment for patient/staff safety. -Conducted peer interviews for manager for the hiring of new staff members. -Educated classes for new hires such as order entry. -Super user for new computer system which entailed on the site training for all employees, and educational class for staff members.

    Program involved following various BSN prepared RN’s though out the medical center to gain knowledge of various positions held. After touring all units, final placement included inpatient psychology unit for the long term monitoring and care of veterans. Specific tasks for final placement include medication pass, ADL care, therapeutic conversation, running group discussion and activities, hourly rounding, and many more long term locked ward care under the supervision of a BSN.
