    The Town Hall Education Arts Recreation Campus (THEARC) is a 110,000 square-foot campus located east of the Anacostia River in Washington, DC’s Ward 8. THEARC was built and is operated by Building Bridges Across the River (BBAR) a nonprofit 501-c-3 organization. Funding for building THEARC came entirely from charitable contributions by the Federal and District government, corporations, foundations and individuals. THEARC is a key part of a revitalization of the area known as East of the (Anacostia) River in Washington, DC. THEARC FARM is 5 years old and was is an urban farm developed to address food insecurity and to involve our community in nature, nutrition, and healthy eating. THEARC Farm is committed to responding to the increased interest in farming and gardening as both a form of employment and a means of providing food for families and the community. THEARC Farm hosts intergenerational workshops that provide participants with training in composting, soil health, companion planting, garden plot construction and design, and more. THEARC Farm also host events and workshops that assist with building capacity amongst local farmers and growers through intensive apprenticeship programs with mapped out pathways to employment or entrepreneurship.
