  My research interests include sporting cultures, fitness and gender, self-care and self-realization, and embodied subjectivity. I am currently finishing my PhD Dissertation, which is a two-year ethnographic study of a Southern California CrossFit community and gym. This study has implications for how we understand meaning-making and self-realization through discourses of health and fitness in Late Capitalism, as well as how and why female muscularity is becoming increasingly accepted and even valorized within American society.
