Ana V. Thorne, PhD, is an assistant professor at Mount Saint Mary’s University (MSMU) where she teaches English, Creative Writing and Cultural Studies courses. Ana was student commencement speaker at her 2012 graduation from Claremont Graduate University’s doctoral cultural studies program where she focused on Africana and Media Studies. Ana received a BA in English and an MA in Humanities from MSMU; and, an MFA in Creative Writing from Antioch University. Ana presented papers on segregated education and mixed race ethnography at the Association of Graduate Liberal Studies Conferences in 2015 and 2016, respectively. Her short story, No Thank You, Otto Titzling appeared in the Santa Fe Writers Project Online Journal (ww.sfwp.com); her ethnographic visual research project on her father and Negro League Baseball can be viewed at www.thomasturnernegroleague.org.
