Annette Koh is a Ph.D. candidate in Urban & Regional Planning at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa whose research focuses on placemaking, equity and civic engagement in cities. Her professional background is in arts administration and nonprofit management. In 2015, Annette co-taught a graduate seminar in community planning that created 6 week public planning academy to educate Honolulu residents about key urban planning issues. Other projects include the "Living Archive" neighborhood walking tour based on archival research and the 2017 Decolonizing Cities symposium in collaboration with UHM's Center for Hawaiian Studies and the Indigenous Politics program. Her essay "Placemaking When Black Lives Matter" was published by Progressive City in April 2017 and reprinted by request in the Project for Public Spaces.
