Ana Mae Barbosa has been president of the International Society of Education Through Art (1990–1993); director of the USP’s Museum of Contemporary Art (1987–1993); consultant for Canal Futura (2006); and member of the Petrobras Arts Council (2008). She has published 22 books on art and art education, the latest being: Abordagem Triangular no Ensino das Artes e Culturas Visuais (São Paulo: Editora Cortez, 2010); A Imagem no Ensino da Arte (São Paulo: Editora Perspectiva, 2009); Ensino da Arte: Memória e História (São Paulo: Editora Perspectiva, 2008); and Interritorialidade: Mídias, Contexto e Educação (São Paulo: Editora Senac; Sesc, 2008), with Lilian Amaral (Eds.). She has received the Edwin Ziegfeld Prize, in the United States (1992); the International Herbert Read Prize (1999); the Achievement Award, for her leadership role in art education in the United States (2002); and the Order of Scientific Merit (2004) from the Brazilian Ministry of Science and Technology. She has taught in various US universities, such as Yale and Ohio State, and lectured in many countries around the world, including Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Sweden, the Netherlands, Egypt, Finland, Poland, Nigeria, Spain, Portugal, France, the UK, the Philippines, Canada, Taiwan, Hungary, Japan and the United States. She has curated exhibitions of the work of Christo, Bárbara Kruger, Oswald de Andrade, Alex Flemming, among others.
