  Amy E. Farrell is Professor of American Studies and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and Chair of Liberal Arts at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, USA. She received her PhD from the University of Minnesota in American Studies in 1991. She is the author of two books, Yours in Sisterhood: Ms. Magazine and the Promise of Popular Feminism (University of North Carolina Press, 1998) and Fat Shame: Stigma and the Fat Body in American Culture (New York University Press, 2011), as well as numerous scholarly articles on the histories of feminism and the history of body and fatness. She is a 2019-2020 recipient of the American Council of Learned Societies Fellowship to work on her current project, Girl Scouts of the USA: Democracy, Sisterhood, and Empire.
