Aging & Social Change: Ninth Interdisciplinary Conference is pleased to announce Kai Leichsenring as a 2019 plenary speaker.

Kai Leichsenring is the Executive Director at the European Centre for Social Welfare Policy and Research, Vienna. He studied political sciences (social policy) and languages at the University of Vienna, Austria and the University of Rennes, France. He specialized in comparative and applied social research and policy consultancy with a focus on aging, health, and long-term care, and related issues such as governance and financing, quality management, working conditions, user involvement, and informal care. Apart from coordinating many national and European R&D projects, he collaborated with a number of regional and national governments in Europe as well as with NGOs and international agencies, including UNECE, OECD, WHO, and Worldbank. He is a member of the UNECE Working Group on Ageing (Geneva) and of the Scientific Advisory Board of the JPI ‘More Years, Better Lives’. He has published many reports, books, and policy briefs, including Social Support and Long-Term Care for Older People: The Potential for Social Innovation and Active Ageing (with K. Schumann and M. Reichert), pp. 255-286 in A.
