Abstract
In May 2019 S.M.A.K. Gent produced a science-fiction movie in collaboration with artists, filmmakers, teachers and 40 students from a local school for vocational education. This project was realised within the context of a large collection exhibition Highlights For A Future. This project is the latest project in a longer, experimental collaboration with this school to connect this community to the museum and its programme. The teenagers from this school have very little connections with contemporary art and usually have limited access to the work and education. In our projects the focus is on self-expression, creativity, and inspiration and are produced in collaboration with the participants. The movie was shot in in the museum and in the surrounding park and velodrome. The film can be best understood as a collaborative artwork that constantly shifts between genres: fiction, behind the scenes and documentary.
