Creative Commons, Copyright, and the Public Domain: Inclusive Practices in an Exclusive World

Abstract

The use of representative images and creative work is vital to inclusive museum practice. This online poster will examine the aspects of creative commons, copyright, public domain, and fair use and the issues that arise in the museum and exhibition world. The purpose of this online poster is to use real-world examples from the United States of problems (and solutions) in issues of copyright, rights and reproductions, and the creative commons in order to inform museum and nonprofit professionals of the copyright and fair use practice and provide resources and guidance for image reproduction and copyright in the future.
